Working weekends? Nope. 

Driving to 5 cities daily? Nah.

Wearing dress clothes in a heat wave? Still not it (who am I kidding I've been wearing shorts for the last 2 weeks)

 

Tired of guessing? Well I will tell you what I hate the most about Real Estate, here is an actual conversation that I had yesterday with another agent 

 

ME "Hi John, it's Paul from Sutton I have a buyer interested in seeing the apartment you have listed at xxxx street in Coquitlam tomorrow at 7pm"

 

JOHN "Hi Paul, I can't make it tomorrow at 7pm, can you show it next Tuesday at 11:15am?"

 

ME "Ummmmm no......we have set up a schedule of 5 places they want to see, the tour is tomorrow starting at 6:30pm"

 

JOHN "Oh ok, what about Sunday at 2:20 then? I have another showing there at the same time, so it's easier for me to not have to go there twice"

 

ME "perhaps you did not get what I said earlier...... we are on a tour, my buyer works weekends"

 

JOHN "Oh I have an idea, just pick up the keys at my office in Maple Ridge"

 

ME "Ummmm that is about 30 minutes out of the way of the condos we are seeing, and an hour away from my house. Can you or someone from your office please just show us the place?"

 

JOHN "It's really incenvenient for me to drive there, I live in Maple Ridge, if you can come Sunday, just do that"

 

ME "Good luck selling your listing, I feel very very bad for your seller who is relying on you to show their property as much as possible, paying you to do a job.  CLICK"

 

In the end, I showed the other 4 places, and my clients wrote an offer on one of them. Maybe that offer would have gone to "John's" sellers. Does his sellers even know how difficult he is making it for other agents to show the property? How he is potentially taking money out of their pockets? Sometimes I wish the clients really knew what was going on behind the scenes. 

 

That, is my biggest Real Estate pet peeve!
